Good to know
For schools. Parents have their own version of this page, and it answers different questions.
Your school's page
4 questionsWhere did our page come from? We did not create it.
Every school registered with KHDA is listed here, and the listing is built from what KHDA publishes: name, area, curriculum, inspection rating, the fee range, the grade range and the contact details on the register. Nothing was taken from your website and nothing was written by hand.
There is no opt-in because there is no submission — the directory covers all 232 registered private schools so that a parent comparing them sees the whole field rather than only the schools that chose to appear.
Something on our page is wrong. How do we get it corrected?
Send it through the Communicate page and say what the field should be. Corrections are recorded against your school with the reason they were made, and they survive the next import — which matters, because the import overwrites the KHDA fields every time it runs and a change made any other way would be undone by it.
Tell us which field, what it currently says and what it should say. A correction we can check against KHDA or your own site is applied quickly; one we cannot check has to wait until we can.
How often is the KHDA data refreshed?
The import re-reads the register and updates every school it finds. Ratings and fee ranges change on KHDA's schedule rather than ours, so a change published by them appears here after the next run, not the same day.
If something changed at KHDA and still shows the old value here well after the fact, that is worth telling us about — it usually means a field moved or the page structure changed.
Can we have our school removed from the directory?
A school still registered with KHDA stays listed. The register is public information, and a directory with gaps in it is worse than useless to the parents it is for — the school that is missing looks like the school with something to hide.
A school that closes or is de-registered is marked as delisted and stops appearing. If that has happened and the listing is still live, tell us.
Adding what KHDA does not publish
4 questionsWhat can we add that is not there already?
The things KHDA does not publish at all: your office email rather than a principal's personal address, teacher and admin staff numbers, and transport — which routes you run, which areas they cover and what they cost.
Those are the questions parents ask most often and the ones no public source answers. Fees, curriculum and rating are already on the page from KHDA; there is no need to send those unless they are wrong.
How do we send them?
Through the Communicate page, from a school address. It is one form and it takes a few minutes.
Everything sent is read before anything is published. Publishing school-supplied details onto the school pages themselves is still being built, so at the moment your submission is received and reviewed rather than appearing straight away. We would rather say that than have you send details and wonder where they went.
Can we write our own description of the school?
Not yet, and when it exists it will be marked as the school's own words rather than presented as ours. A directory where each entry describes itself in its own voice stops being comparable, which is the one thing it is for.
Facts we can check are a different matter and always welcome.
Can we add photographs?
Not currently. There is a place in the database for school photographs with a gate on it so that nothing appears without being approved first, but none have been added, and none will be taken from elsewhere — an image found online belongs to whoever made it.
When it opens it will be for photographs the school provides and licenses to us, which is the only version of this that is fair to everyone.
Ratings and inspections
3 questionsWhere does the rating on our page come from?
It is the KHDA inspection judgement as published, unchanged. We do not rate schools, score them, or compute a ranking of our own, and there is no editorial adjustment between the register and the page.
Schools not yet inspected are shown as such rather than given a placeholder. A new school with no judgement is not a bad school and should not be displayed as one.
Our rating has just improved. When does the site show it?
After the next import picks it up from KHDA. If your new judgement is published and the page still shows the old one, tell us and we will look at why the import missed it.
Can we add context to a rating we disagree with?
Not on the rating itself. It is KHDA's judgement, and presenting it alongside a rebuttal would misrepresent what it is.
What you can do is make sure everything else on the page is right and complete. A page that answers a parent's real questions does more for a school than an argument with its inspection would.
Parents contacting you
2 questionsA parent asked something about our school. What happens to it?
Questions from parents come to us, not to you — the form does not forward anything to schools, and your inbox is not on the receiving end of it.
Where the answer is a fact worth having, we chase it and publish it, so the next parent asking the same question does not have to ask. Where it needs the school, we may put it to you directly.
Do you pass our contact details to parents, or sell them?
The contact details on your page are the ones KHDA publishes, so they are already public. Nothing is sold, to anyone, and there is no lead-generation arrangement behind this site.
If you send us an office email through Communicate it is for the page, so that parents write to the right address rather than to a principal's personal one.
Advertising and listing
2 questionsDoes paying change our position or our rating?
No. Ordering follows the filters a parent chooses, and the rating comes from KHDA. Neither is for sale — a directory where position could be bought would be worthless to the parents who use it, and therefore to the schools in it.
Claiming and correcting your page is free and always will be. That is the part that matters, and it costs nothing.
What does claiming our page actually give us?
The ability to add the details above, and a mark on the listing showing the school itself confirmed them — which is worth more to a parent than anything a school could write about itself.
The Advertise page sets out what else is offered. The pricing there is provisional and should be read as an indication rather than a quote.
Who regulates what
3 questionsKHDA or the Ministry of Education — which applies to us?
KHDA regulates private education in Dubai: registration, inspection, the fee framework, and the published register this site is built from. The Ministry of Education sets national policy and owns the MOE curriculum.
For anything about your entry on the register — the details, the rating, the permitted fees — KHDA is the body that holds it, and correcting it there is what eventually corrects it here.
How is the fee increase we are permitted decided?
Through KHDA's framework, which ties the permitted increase to a cost index and to the school's inspection outcome, so a better judgement allows a larger increase. The figures are re-set annually, which is why none are printed here.
The fee range on your page is what KHDA publishes for the current year. It changes here when it changes there.
The KHDA register itself has the wrong details for us. What then?
Correct it with KHDA. That is the source, and a fix there reaches every service built on the register rather than only this one.
Tell us as well, and we will hold a correction over the wrong value in the meantime, so your page is right while KHDA's own record catches up.
This page is orientation, not authority. Registration, inspection and the fee framework belong to KHDA, and national policy to the Ministry of Education. Several of the rules behind these answers — the fee framework in particular — are re-set every year. Something here wrong, or a question you expected and did not find? Tell us.
